First FETC!!- Future of Educational Technology Conference
Steve and I attended FETC (Future of Educational Technology) last week (Jan 28-30), in not so sunny, Orlando, FL. The polar vortex had all the attendees still wearing their winter coats, but the weather did not dampen our enthusiasm for looking for the latest and greatest in ed tech! Steve and I presented six sessions together on Physical Computing with MakeCode, MakeCode & Minecraft, MakeArcade, Creative Coding with Minecraft, Minecraft and SEL, and ESports (okay, that one was just Steve). Sal Khan’s keynote was inspiring, and Leslie Fischer, Hall Davidson, Kathy Shrock, and Adam Bellow’s TechShare did not disappoint. I am most excited to see what’s next with QNeuro, the Merge Cube, and CoSpaces.
QNeuro integrates real time brain monitoring with adaptive teaching and assessment to maximize learning efficiency. Yes. It measures your EEG activity and matches questions/problems with your learning sweet spot. Insane, crazy, and so cool. The Merge Cube was the hottest thing on the expo floor at FETC. Not only does it gives users the ability to hold and interact with virtual objects, but also educators the ability to create VR and AR experiences to enhance a lesson, AND students the ability to create VR and AR experiences to demonstrate their knowledge. CoSpaces, already an incredible VR/AR creation tool, has partnered with Merge, which will surely be the source of so much amazing content in the near future!
